Eurofins Scientific is one of the world's largest analytical testing groups.

Its growth has been remarkable: in less than forty years, the company has grown from a French startup in Nantes with just a few employees to a global network of more than 900 laboratories in over 60 countries.

1987 – Founded in Nantes

  • October 1987: Eurofins Scientific was founded in Nantes by Gilles Martin, then 24 years old.
  • The company started out with just 3 to 4 employees.
  • Its goal was to commercialize an innovative technology developed at the University of Nantes: the SNIF-NMR® method (Site-specific Natural Isotope Fractionation by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance), which verifies the origin and authenticity of food and beverages.
